Claire H. Mulford, M.A., LPC-S, LCDC 

After completing an Associate's of Applied Science degree in Human Services: Substance Abuse Counseling, and a 4,000 hour Internship, I received my licensure as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) from the Texas Department of State Health Services, Licensing Division, in Austin, Texas. 

I continued my education, eventually earning my Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology.  After successfully passing the National Certified Counselor's (NCC) examination, and completing a 3,000 hour Intrenship, I received my Professional Counselor Licensure (LPC) from the Texas Department of State Health Services, Licensing Division, in Austin, Texas.  

I also participated in and acquired the necessary educational requirements to become a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor, allowing me to assist other beginning professionals in achieving their goals of becoming a counselor.

I have completed over 850 hours of continuing educational hours related to both of my licenses.  I continue to engage in continuing education in an effort to not only maintain my licenses, but to sharpen my skills in order to provide the best quality of care to my patients. 

I enjoy assisting individuals in discovering and learning how to apply alternative methods of behavior and or thought in which to process the elements in their lives, which have resulted in stress, negative behaviors and or other outcomes; and, to ultimately, develop a more enhanced understanding of rational thinking and decision making skills with regard to their behaviors in order to develop more positive coping methods which will provide each individual the skills to make the necessary changes in and to their lives.

I also hold memberships in the following:

American Counseling Association (ACA),

Texas Counseling Association (TCA),

National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC),

and

Texas Association of Addiction Professionals (TAAP). 

SMART Recovery:

I am also a professional sponsor and facilitator for SMART Recovery, a community based self-help group which meets at my office four (4) times weekly at no charge to those who attend. 

I provide this service as  part of my office's contribution to the community.
